About this listen

Following the smash-hit sci-fi comedy The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe is the second part in Douglas Adams' multi media phenomenon and cult classic series, read by Martin Freeman.

If you've done six impossible things this morning, why not round it off with breakfast at Milliways, the Restaurant at the end of the Universe?

Which is exactly what the crew of the Heart of Gold plan to do. There's just the small matter of escaping the Vogans, avoiding being taken to the most totally evil world in the Galaxy and teaching a spaceship how to make a proper cup of tea.

And did anyone actually make a reservation?

Follow Arthur Dent's galactic (mis)adventures in the rest of the trilogy with five parts: Life, the Universe and Everything, So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish, and Mostly Harmless.

Enjoyable but quite slow

Martin Freeman’s storytelling is superb. The story had less to offer though. Overall entertaining experience.

Almost but not entirely the exact opposite of a bad book

Yeah. It was great and all. The reader could have done better though. I’m sure people would agree

Overall a good listen.

Liked the first part more. The voice acting could have been better specially for Zaphod.
Still a worthwhile listen.

Not as great as Hitchhiker's, still entertaining

Martin Freeman's performance is simply superb! The story was not as entertaining at the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. However, Douglas Adam's characteristic writing style is still funny in parts.

technical issues with the audiobook

technical glitch - every once a while the track jumps for half a second or so
otherwise, a great sequel to the hitchhiker's guide

Enjoyable but a bit lost into digression

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy started with a great storyline and imagination and continued in this book too. Although the connections between different events and silly little things sometimes got lost in details, this one was thoroughly enjoyable. The narration could've been better though. I love Martin Freeman and his acting but his voice acting lacks the depth and variety Stephen Fry provided.

Outstanding story and narration

It is an absolute pleasure to listen to this book and its prequel. Incredible storytelling by the author and the presenter.

Overall good.

Unlike other reviews, I enjoyed Martin Freeman's performance in this. The first book had a better story tho. Still enjoyed the book.
